Transitioning to e-conveyancing

Key
insights:

From 1 July 2018, all caveats and land transfers without mortgages in NSW have been lodged electronically.

E-settlement of all mainstream property transactions is now in effect in Victoria and will be mandatory in NSW from 1 July 2019.

Lawyers and conveyancers who act on land dealings or those in other practice areas who are required to lodge caveats on their clients' behalf should ensure a smooth transition process to minimise professional risk.

Further information is contained in the linked article, written in 2018 for Lawcover’s risk page in the Law Society of NSW Journal under the ‘Is your practice ready for e-conveyancing?’.
